1st dive of 2026 – Beacon Cove

What a beautiful morning, sun shining, sea flat calm and the water looks amazing. This is the sight we encountered when arriving at Beacon Cove.

A couple of divers has just exited the water so we enquired about the conditions. The response was at least 5 metres viz and the temperature was 15 degrees throughout. Music to our ears. We were excited to get in the water as this was the first dive of the season.

True to previous years the 1st dive always has a few hiccups along the way but after sorting these out we completed our weigth check and also completed a dive leader lesson during the dive.

We couldn't have asked for more as the conditions were brilliant, Viz as expected and the marine life did come out to say hello. Spiders crabs, welks, shanny, wrasse, pollock, sand eels and other fish, spongesĀ  sea grass and kelp.

The Sun's rays were penetrating the water as beautiful shafts of light. Amazing.

My highlight after all this was the cutest tiniest cuttlefish, difficult to spot but leaving a tiny ink trail gave them away.

Lovely start to the season and hopefully many more like this to come.
